Open AI Launches “Dots,” Always-On AI Agents for Work

Open AI introduced Dots, a new generation of always-on artificial intelligence agents designed to pursue users’ goals across applications with limited supervision. Announced at the company’s Developer Day in San Francisco, Dots can manage changing projects, communicate through workplace platforms, research information, analyze data, prepare documents and build software. Open AI says users can set rules controlling what the agents may do and when permission is required. The launch intensifies competition in autonomous AI, particularly following Meta’s Muse. Live demonstrations encountered some technical problems, while safety and data privacy remain major concerns as increasingly capable AI agents enter workplaces worldwide this year.
